Lampard refuses to blame Zouma for Sheffield draw

Frank Lampard has refused to blame his defenders for the goals conceded in the Sheffield United draw.

Chelsea were 2-0 up before the break, but then the Blades hit back and equalised, with the Blues’ backline and, especially, Kurt Zouma, put under fire of criticism.

However, the boss declined to name names talking about collective responsibility for Saturday’s misfortunes as well as the total record.

“It is conceding as a team,” Lampard said. “There was a lack of concentration and mistakes for the goals but you defend as a team as much as you attack as a team.

“We conceded because we switched off. The first goal allowed it but we only have ourselves to look at, as a group, not individually. It’s a game we should be comfortably seeing it out at 2-0 up.

“We can isolate goals and talk about centre-backs. But when we score goals sometimes it’s because of a centre-back moving the ball quickly. We only have ourselves to look at.”
