Lampard sets to keep Italy international at Stamford Bridge

There are new indications that Italy international, Emerson Palmieri would no longer be leaving Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.

Recall that the Italian defender was close to leaving Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window after the Blues welcome a new left-back in person of Ben Chilwell.

With the arrival of Chilwell, Emerson had believed his game time at Chelsea would reduce.

Emerson had, in fact, admitted in November that a transfer away from Chelsea in January may be the best option for him. However, there have been a turnaround in the recent weeks at Stamford Bridge and Emerson has featured three times for Chelsea.

According to Football London, it reports that the 26-year-old has caught the attention of coach Frank Lampard especially following his performance in the Blues win over Sevilla and draw with Krasnodar in the Champions League.

Napoli were expected to submit a fresh bid for Emerson in January but with the looks of things at Stamford Bridge, it looks unlikely that the Blues will accede to any request as Lampard is set to make full use of his squad depth.

Chelsea will return to the Premier League on Saturday when they will make a trip to Goodison Park to face Everton.
