The blues are ready to try and sign Mauro Icardi or Robert Lewandondowski during the summer transfer window.
It is no secret that Chelsea are currently fighting a transfer ban for the next few windows, but they are confident that it can be overturned and have been lining up a number of possible summer signings, just in case they are able to splash the cash and signa few players.
And one name that has been on the radar of Maurizio Sarri is that of Icardi, who is an absolute superstar at Inter Milan and their main source of goals, but there has been a lot of speculation in the media that he is on his way out of the club at the end of the season after failing to agree a new contract.
And another name on the shopping list is that of Lewnadowski, who is regarded one of the best strikers of his generation and has been tipped to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season in search of a fresh challenge
Inter reportedly value Icardi at around £70million, while Bayern value Lewandowski at £100 million but Hasselbaink has urged the club to delve into their transfer kitty and land another striker in the coming window.
‘Chelsea are in desperate need of proven firepower so I would love to see them make a move for Lewandowski or Icardi this summer,’ Hasselbaink old Bwin.
‘Icardi would be my preference as I’m a little bit worried about Lewandowski’s age.
‘I think Icardi is a more realistic target while also being more likely to adapt to the Premier League.
‘Lewandowski is a superb striker but he is the wrong side of 30 and we have seen with Higuain that England is not an easy place to come at that stage of your career.’
Icardi is a man in demand and Chelsea will have to fend off a number of top clubs to try and secure a deal, but if their transfer ban does get overturned in the coming weeks, then he is just the type of player that Sarri needs to help fire him back to the very top of the Premier League.
Lewandowski brings that certain superstar status to Bayern, and £100 million is not a lot of money to pay for one of the best strikers in world football, especially as he could bring 25-35 goals a season.
