Negotiation On: Chelsea identify “Less Expensive Option” to Chilwell who has seven assists this season

According to ESPN, Chelsea are interested in Everton left-back Lucas Digne, reports claims the Frenchman has been identified as a “less expensive option” to Leicester’s Ben Chilwell.

The Foxes are said to be holding out for at least £75m for Chilwell and it is believed Everton would be prepared to sell Digne for significantly less.

Chelsea will face competition for the 26-year-old’s signature, with Manchester City having also looked at the fullback as a possible summer target.

As well as being available for a lower amount than Chilwell, Digne is also more creative, having contributed seven assists in all competitions this season, compared to the Leicester man’s four.

Blues boss Frank Lampard is believed to be actively looking for a new left-back, having been left unimpressed by both Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso.

Alonso’s performance against West Ham last night would have given the Chelsea manager all the confirmation he would’ve needed for finding a replacement.
