Next in for Chelsea? as Roman Abramovich tipped to sack Lampard if he continues poor form

Roman Abramovich may seek to hire former Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino this season, if Frank Lampard continues picking up poor results.

Lampard had a terrific season last year as Chelsea boss and led the club back into those Champions League spots and an FA Cup final, where they shocking lost to Arsenal, but that opened the door for a summer of spending.

Roman Abramovic has backed the club legend, has given him the funds he needs to sign players, and is seemingly happy with the feeling that is around the club right now, especially with all the young talents coning through.

Edouard Mendy has been signed, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell have been signed to improve that midfield, Hakim Ziyech ad Kai Havertz have been signed to give the side a bit more quality in attack, while Timo Werner has been signed to score the goals.

However, after a poor performance against West Brom at the weekend and then getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup to Tottenham, there is a feeling around the media that Lampard will be the first Premier League boss to get the sack.

Yes he is bring through the talented players, and yes there is a good feeling surrounding the club, but at the end of the day, Abramovic wants results, he wants wins and he expects trophies, especially with all the money that has been spent.

And should Lampard get the sack, Ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino the man that will replace Lampard.

Pochettino is easily regarded as one of the finest young coaches in the game and led Tottenham to that Champions League final last season, but some poor results and the availability of Jose Mourinho, meant that Tottenham gave him the sack.

But Pochettino is on the market, is keen for a move back to the Premier League and is a big target for Abramovic, who likes the way that Poch plays the beautiful game.

Lampard will be given time to get things right, but if he fails to pick up the results that Abramovic wants, then Pochettino will be the next man in. And how could Chelsea fans not get excited about that?
