OFFICIAL: Borussia Dortmund sign Thorgan Hazard

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Eden Hazard’s younger brother Thorgan on a five-year deal, and the signing has been officially confirmed by the club.

It is believed that Borussia Monchengladbach have received around £30m from their Bundesliga rivals Dortmund in compensation for Hazard, and his new deal is set to expire in 2024.

The 26-year-old attacker has 21 caps and scored three goals for Belgium. This season Eden’s brother has netted 13 goals and picked up 12 assists in 35 games for Monchengladbach.

Thorgan Hazard has been a Chelsea player in 2012-2015 but then was sold to Monchengladbach. It is rumoured that the Blues have had a buy-back clause on the player but never wanted to use it.

However, in 2016 a representative dismissed the existence of such a clause: “There is no clause. I do not want to comment on any contract content. But we also do not need to make any secrets about it.”

Another Hazard brother has also completed a transfer earlier this month. Chelsea have agreed a permanent transfer of Eden Hazard’s youngest brother – Kylian Hazard – to Belgian side Cercle Brugge.
