Pep Guardiola claims Chelsea have been toughest test for them this season

Pep Guardiola spoke about his sides struggles in the Premier League this season and paid Chelsea a huge compliment in the process.

When speaking to The Guardian, Guardiola hailed Chelsea as his team’s toughest test yet. He said: ”The Chelsea game last month was the one where we struggled the most. They were the side who caused us the most problems by far, even though we won.”

Lampard’s side currently sit six points behind Manchester City after losing four of their last five Premier League games.

Guardiola’s words are a testament to the talent of this Chelsea side, seeing as Manchester City have played, and lost to league leaders Liverpool and city rivals Manchester United.

It is the second time Guardiola has heaped praise on Chelsea’s young side. As reported by FourFourTwo, after the game in November, the Spaniard said: ”They are so good, they are an incredible team. It’s Chelsea. Football is becoming like this. Most teams and young managers have spirit and nothing to lose. That’s why the football is nice. Chelsea are playing incredibly well.”

Chelsea only allowed City 46.74% possession, which was the lowest any Guardiola side has ever managed in over 350 top-flight matches.

There is clearly a high level of admiration from the City boss. Lampard and his team should take confidence in praise from one of the world’s greatest ever managers.
