Potential Chelsea shirt numbers available to Said Benrahma after sealing Chelsea move

According to a report by the Express, Chelsea have expressed a desire to sign the winger, who is claimed to be valued at more than £20million. To add even more fuel to the fire, a friend of Benrahma’s congratulated him on a move to Stamford Bridge earlier this week, suggesting that Chelsea may be even further down the line with a move for the winger than first thought.

Meanwhile, The Blues have already sealed the signings of Ajax star Hakim Ziyech and Germany international Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, proving just how much they mean business.

But what shirt numbers would be available to Benrahma, who currently wears No.10 at Brentford, if he was to join Chelsea?

No.6: This shirt number is technically already owned by a Chelsea player in the shape of Danny Drinkwater. But it has been vacant all season because the former Leicester City man has been out on loan at Burnley and now Aston Villa.

It is likely that Drinkwater will move on this summer, freeing up the number six once and for all, but it isn’t a number that is likely to attract an attacking player like Benrahma.

No.14: No.14 also belongs to a Chelsea player that is currently out on loan, this time French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko. Bakayoko is currently with Italian giants AC Milan and looks as though he could be another player to be permanently shown the exit door, meaning it will become permanently vacant ahead of next season.

No.15: No. 15 is also occupied by another Blues player out on loan, this time Nigerian winger Victor Moses, who is currently on the other side of Milan with Inter. He has impressed under Antonio Conte at the San Siro over the course of the second half of the season and may be in line for a permanent switch to Italy.

No.16: Different shirt number, same situation. No.16 belongs to Brazilian winger Kenedy, who is currently out on loan at La Liga outfit Getafe. He, too, could be in line for a permanent departure from Stamford Bridge this summer.

No.21: Once again, this shirt number is currently held by a Chelsea loanee in the form of Davide Zappacosta. He is currently on loan at Roma and has seen his season plagued by injury troubles. He could also be in danger of being let go by the Blues on a permanent basis this summer, freeing up the No.21 shirt, which could suit a player like Benrahma, in the process.

No.25: No.25 has not been worn by a Chelsea player since Gianfranco Zola left the club way back in 2003. It has not officially been retired by the club, but the signs suggest that the Blues do not want anyone to wear it, with it now having been vacant for 17 years.
