Real Madrid ready to sacrifice £86m signing for Chelsea youngster Mount

Chelsea could reportedly be handed the opportunity to seal the transfer of Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale in a surprise swap deal.

According to Don Balon, Real Madrid are keen on making a move for Blues starlet Mason Mount after his hugely stunning recent rise.

Mount shone on loan at Derby County last campaign and has continued to look a huge talent after being given a chance in English manager Frank Lampard’s first-team at the club this season.

Still, it’s early days for Mason and it’s a surprise to see a club like Los Blancos in for him given that they normally favour more established big-name acquisitions.

Don Balon state they could even be prepared to sacrifice one of their own Galacticos in this deal, with Gareth on offer to Chelsea in return. It remains to be seen if Chelsea would accept such a proposal, with the Welshman surely now past his best at the highest level.

Mason, by contrast, could be a great player for the Blues to build around for the next few years, so they will not want to let him go now and risk seeing him hit world-class form for a UEFA Champions League rival. Still, Don Balon do claim Chelsea are one of the clubs showing the strongest interest in Gareth at the moment, and the former Tottenham man could make sense as a successor for Eden Hazard.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have reportedly made little progress in their attempts to agree on new deals with Reece James and Tammy Abraham.
