REPORT: Chelsea keen to sign €30m-rated star who’s attracted to potential Blues transfer

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is believed to be in the transfer market for a new goalkeeper due to the inconsistent performances of Kepa Arrizabalaga this season.

Lampard hasn’t hidden his disappointment in Kepa’s performances as he had benched the Spaniard midway through this season, favouring Willy Caballero for up to six games.

Lampard isn’t interested in taking a gamble on Kepa ahead of next season, and according to The Athletic, Chelsea have been in regular contact with Onana’s representatives in recent months ahead of a potential move for the Cameroon international.

Meanwhile, reports claim Ajax are demanding around £26.9m for the 24-year-old, and Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar has warned that Onana will not be allowed to leave for a reduced fee this summer.

“There will always be some who benefit from a crisis and some clubs will have to sell for less, but I think we’re in a fortunate position thanks to our strong financial policy,” he told NOS last month.

“Therefore we don’t have to sell, but we made agreements with the players. ‘These won’t go below a certain price level. We won’t let go of our players for sale prices. We prefer to keep them here.”
