REPORT: Chelsea ready to pay £60m for ‘top defender’ despite Thiago Silva arrival

Chelsea are the most active club in the transfer window this summer and have already secured five potential signings, but still hungry of more.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is reportedly still interested in signing West Ham midfielder Declan Rice despite completing deals for centre-backs Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva.

Lampard wants to use the England international as a centre-back at Chelsea and with the club signing Silva and Sarr, it was expected that Lampard will drop his interest in Rice but he hasn’t.

According to The Sun, the Blues still remain interested in signing Rice but are only willing to pay £60 million for the England international. West Ham reportedly want £80million for the player they see as their future captain.

Reports also claim Chelsea will go full throttle for Rice if the club sells Jorginho this summer.

Maurizio Sarri’s sack at Juventus means the Italian champions are no longer interested in signing Jorginho.
