REPORT: Lampard approved the signing of 16 goals, 26 assist exciting winger, but Chelsea board said no

According to reports, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard tried to secure the signing of Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser in the January transfer window, but the move was cut off by the Chelsea board.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea boss Lampard was keen to sign Fraser in January and had even approved an offer but when it was presented to the Stamford Bridge hierarchy, the board opted against making such a move.

The exciting 26-year-old winger is out of contract at the end of the season and will be free to sign for another club.

According to reports, Chelsea rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are keen to sign Fraser for free at the end of the season.

Chelsea eventually ended up signing a better winger in Hakim Ziyech the following month (February).

According to Simon Johnson of The Athleic, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is set to back Chelsea boss Frank Lampard in this summer’s transfer window.

The report claims Abramovich is prepared to back Lampard in the summer by adding two marquee signings to the squad, with a new left-back and an attacker thought to be high on Lampard’s wishlist.
