REPORT: Lampard ‘confirms’ next Chelsea No.10 ahead of new season

Chelsea signed Christian Pulisic in January 2019 from Borussia Dortmund, but the American star remained on loan with the Bundesliga side until the end of that season.

Pulisic had his first season with Chelsea last term, and while it took him some time to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League, once he did, he was on fire until he suffered an injury towards the end of the campaign.

Willian inherited the much coveted No. 10 jersey from Eden Hazard, and wore it for a year before leaving for Arsenal.

With the No 10 jersey now vacant, Pulisic might be the rightful heir of the jersey. Pulisic wore the 22 jersey last season, as he took over the shirt previously worn by Willian.

New Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech is now expected to wear the No. 22 jersey, following the path of Willian and Pulisic. Ziyech wore this shirt in Chelsea’s friendly against Brighton.

Interestingly, Ziyech is not new to the 22 shirt, as the Moroccan wore the No.22 during his first season at Ajax and switched back to it two years ago when Dusan Tadic was handed the No.10 shirt.

Timo Werner is expected to wear the 11 jersey which was last worn by Pedro, Oscar and Didier Drogba. For Kai Havertz, he has requested to take the No. 29 jersey that was previously worn by Fikayo Tomori.
