REPORT: Lampard eye second huge striker with 30-goals after Werner deal

According to The EXPRESS, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard could sign a second striker after Timo Werner when the transfer window reopens this summer.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is hoping to pair Timo Werner alongside Lazio star Ciro Immobile in his squad next season, reports say. Werner is close to completing his move from RB Leipzig to Stamford Bridge. But it appears the Blues aren’t content with just the German, with Immobile now in their sights.

Chelsea have already enjoyed a solid start to the summer transfer window, with Werner poised to complete a £53million move from RB Leipzig.

The 24-year-old has been in spectacular form this season, scoring 31 goals across all competitions to propel his side to third in the Bundesliga table.

But, now, Calcio Mercato say Chelsea are also keen on bringing Immobile to Stamford Bridge as well. The Italy international was written off a few years ago after failing to replace Robert Lewandowski at Borussia Dortmund.

But Immobile has rediscovered his mojo back in Italy and, this season, has found the net 30 times from 33 appearances across all competitions. A huge 27 of those have come in Serie A – making him the second-highest goalscorer in Europe’s top five leagues.

The report says Chelsea have Immobile as an ‘idea’ with Lampard reportedly appreciative of the Lazio star and what he can bring his side.
