REPORT: Marina Granovskaia to hold talks with agent of Bundesliga defender

Chelsea will reportedly hold discussions with the agent of David Alaba as they look to convince the Bayern Munich defender to join them.

The Austrian’s current deal with the German champions expires at the end of the season and talks over an extension have broken down.

Hence, he is free to negotiate a pre-contract with an overseas club in January while Bayern could also be tempted to sell him.

According to Bild, the Blues will hold talks with super-agent Pini Zahavi in January regarding the possibility of signing the versatile defender.

Alaba, who can play at either centre-back or left-back, has made nearly 400 appearances for Bayern Munich since his debut more than a decade ago.

Aside from the Blues, Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest in the 28-year-old, who can also operate in the midfield.

Alaba’s wage demands won’t prove a stumbling block for either club and it appears likely that he will play for another team next year.
