REPORTS: Chelsea ready to pay highest-ever Premier League salary to Eden Hazard

Chelsea are ready to offer Eden Hazard a new contract with £350,000 a week salary, according to the Daily Express’ recent report. The Blues are eager to start the talks before Christmas.

The offered salary lets Hazard top Premier League’s high earners Paul Pogba (£290,000 a week at Manchester United) and Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil (£306,000 a week).

“It will even eclipse the PL best-paid player Alexis Sanchez, whose basic wage at Old Trafford is £315,000 a week,” add the newspaper.

However, Daily Express is not the most reputable source there is and their exclusive reports should be taken with a grain of salt.

Recently a more reputable media Daily Mail claimed that Chelsea plan to open contract negotiations with Eden Hazard in November. The Blues are prepared for the long round of talks to try and convince the Belgian to stay at the club and snub Real Madrid’s interest.

Hazard’s current deal is worth £220,000 per week and it expires in the summer of 2020. The Blues are expected to offer the striker a salary in excess of £300,000, Daily Mail claimed.

The Belgian recently insisted he is in no hurry to leave and if the rumored Real Madrid transfer would never happen that will be okay with the striker. Hazard said, as cited by Sky Sports:

“I can finish with Chelsea. No problem at all. I am very happy with this club, with the team, my family is happy here. So If I don’t go to Spain, it is not a problem. I love the fans – I think the fans love me! What happens in the future, I will be happy, so that’s it.”
