Returning Chelsea loanee wants to stay and fight for a starting spot at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have gained a reputation over the years of building up an army of players that they have loaned out to other clubs.

They have been known as the ‘Chelsea loan army’. One player who joined this army last summer was Welsh international, Ethan Ampadu.

But things have not gone to plan for the 19-year old during his year-long loan spell in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.

He had to settle mainly for a bench role in Germany and as a result, his progression has been stunted slightly.

The versatile defender, who can also play in midfield, is highly rated amongst the football world and he will be hoping to kick start his progress again.

According to Goal, Ampadu wants to to stay at Chelsea this summer and fight for a spot under Frank Lampard, despite having a number of clubs interested in taking him on loan again.

The former Exeter City player certainly has the talent and spirit that Lampard will want to see from his players.
