REVEALED : Latest Outcome meeting between Premier League and club captains

A meeting between club captains and the Premier League was held last week.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has revealed that reports from the meeting suggested most footballers want to play and complete the season.

“There are two positive conclusions I took from what I heard about the meeting between the Premier League and the club captains this week,” Carragher wrote in his column in The Telegraph.

“Firstly, the overwhelming majority of players want to play. Secondly, when they do return, there will be no safer working environment in this country than Premier League training grounds.

“That does not mean all the players are reassured about what the next few weeks might bring, but the issue is not whether they want to complete the season. It is how and when they do it. Of serious concern to the players is the sense of urgency to allow football to return when the country is still in lockdown.

“If I was still a professional footballer in this situation, I can state with absolute honesty I would want to play again as soon as I was told it was safe to do so.

“I am heartened that so many players, club owners, executives and governing bodies have openly stated how much they want football back as soon as possible.”
