REVEALED: What Lampard said about Loftus-Cheek’s performance against Norwich

Frank Lampard made five changes to the starting line-up from the shocking 3-0 loss to Sheffield United, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek starting against Norwich.

This was his second start of the season after missing much of the season to injury.

Speaking about his performance against Norwich, Lampard said: “I hope so. It’s difficult for Ruben now because he’s had so long out and he’s had a stop start. Lockdown, restart.

“He’s worked really, really hard to get to where he is at now and in terms of his quality and fitness, we have to give him a little bit of credit and time.

“These games, he’s started today and made little impacts along the way. It may look like that for him in the next few games but what I want is a Ruben firing and straight out the blocks in pre-season and next season because I know the talent he has and what he can bring us.

“He is different to what the rest of the squad can bring us in terms of his physicality and his touch on the ball. “I’m pleased he’s back and around it. Those minutes will do him very good.”
