Rio Ferdinand blasts Chelsea’s “crazy” decision

Manchester United Legend Rio Ferdinand has hit out at Chelsea’s “crazy” decision to overlook Atalanta star Mario Pasalic for six years during his time at the club. The midfielder was signed by Chelsea from Hadjuk Split in 2014.

However, he went out on loan in one of five consecutive spells spent abroad. His final loan was a two-year stint at Atalanta.

“Crazy, It’s crazy!” Ferdinand said. “He was a Chelsea player for six years! They’ve just sold him for £12m.”

Pasalic’s first loan took him to Elche just weeks after joining up with Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea squad. After a year in Spain he went to France with Monaco, followed by a season at AC Milan in Italy and then taking in the sights of Russia with Spartak Moscow.

This season he has made 45 appearances and scoring 12 goals.
