Roman Abramovich’s former private scout names the one player Chelsea should sign in 2020

Chelsea should buy back Nathan Ake from Bournemouth at the end of the club’s transfer ban, according to one of the club’s veteran scouts.

Piet de Visser, who was Roman Abramovich’s private scout for several years and now works on a contract basis for Chelsea, believes that the Bournemouth defender would suit Frank Lampard’s side perfectly.

Ake joined Chelsea as a 16-year-old but was unable to make a breakthrough following a number of loan moves and wassold to the south coast club for £20million in June 2017. He has since thrived for Eddie Howe’s team and would cost more than double to re-sign.

De Visser told De Volkskrant : “Do you know how many players from the Chelsea academy have moved away? Dutch people too: Patrick van Aanholt, Nathan Ake.

“Ake should be playing at Chelsea now. He’s so good. He has timing and insight. I hope they buy him back.

That boy is crazy about Chelsea and he has played with Lampard.”

The 85-year-old Dutchman, speaking before tonight’s Champions League group H game against Ajax at the Johan Cruijff Arena, has also been impressed by Lampard’s management to date and said it was fortunate that the club allowed Maurizio Sarri depart for Juventus.

Do we need Ake back at Stamford Bridge?
