Sergio Ramos keeps Chelsea move open after ruling out two clubs

According to transfer news from Football london, Sergio Ramos has kept the door open for a move to Chelsea. However, he did rule out returning to Sevilla and joining arch-rivals Barcelona after leaving Real Madrid.

Sergio Ramos will be quitting Real Madrid at the end of the month. The club officially confirmed that the captain would be leaving after a new contract could not be agreed upon. Farewells were said, tears were shed as the 35-year old leaves the club after 16 trophy-laden seasons.

Ramos cleared the air regarding his exit. He claimed that he initially wanted a 2-year deal but the club only offered him one. While he wanted to accept the one-year option later, he found out that it was no longer on the table.

With his future now up in the air, several clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with a move for him. Nonetheless, he ruled out two clubs, citing that he would not be joining them.

“Sevilla is the other club of my heart, I had marvellous time there. But today I am not thinking about that option. Barca would be a resounding no, impossible to see Ramos in a Barca shirt. These have been difficult months, not easy at all. I am fully happy when I’m on the pitch. But now I can say I am recovered, really looking forward to competing again.”

It would seem as if Chelsea are still in with a chance of signing the decorated veteran. While Ramos may not exactly be a long-term option for the club, he does represent a great short-term one. His leadership qualities could be something Chelsea can use. A deal similar to Thiago Silva should not be too shabby for Chelsea.
