Chelsea are the latest club to take up a keen interest in Lille striker Victor Osimhen, according to reports in France. The Blues are already interested in his teammate Gabriel Magalhaes, but it seems the Nigerian is also on the club’s watchlist.
Lille and Chelsea have a good relationship going back to the days of signing Eden Hazard, and it is believed there was some recent contact between the two clubs where Osimhen’s name came up. It would be fair to say, though, that Osimhen is not the finished article, but his 18 goals in 38 games has reportedly attracted the interest of the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.
Whether Chelsea will actually formally join the race for the Nigerian international’s signature, we shall have to wait and see. No bids are likely being planned at the moment, with so much uncertainty due to the global health crisis, but the Blues will almost certainly be looking for another striker when the transfer window reopens.
