Sorry Inter as Chelsea to activate clause and open talks with World Cup winner

Reports have claimed Chelsea have decided to activate a clause in the contract of Olivier Giroud and keep him at the club this summer.

As we have said before, the whole world is gripped by the Coronavirus outbreak that is stopping everything from running smoothly, killing thousands and stopping us from enjoying the game we love on a weekly basis.

But that has not stopped speculation in the media about possible incomings and out-goings in the summer transfer window, with a number of world class players linked with a move to the club and a number of fringe players linked with a move away, players like Giroud.

There was even speculation in the media that he was all set to leave Chelsea during the January window, but with the Blues unable to sign a new striker, and Abraham picking up a serious injury, it meant that Lampard needed the Frenchman to stay put until at least the end of the season.

But the 33-year-old French striker has started to become a big part of the plans at Chelsea, meaning that he is now needed in the side and recent reports have suggested that he is in talks to sign a new deal at the club.

According to GOAL , that will not be the case and Chelsea are hoping that Giroud decides to stay.

They will activate a clause in the stars contract which means that he will get to stay for another season, that is, if he does not decide to sign for the Italian club before the clause can be activated.
