Supercomputer predicts where Chelsea will finish the season when the league resumes

Every football lover is waiting for the coronavirus pandemic to be over so that football can resume back to normal, and Opta has run a simulation of the remaining games in the 2019/20 campaign in order to predict how the season will eventually end.

To arrive at their conclusion, Opta analysed data from the previous four seasons, the teams’ current attacking and defensive numbers and this season’s performances.

Opta computer backed Liverpool win the league on 101 points – an English all-time record and second in Europe only to Juventus’ haul of 102 from 2013-14.

Opta also predicted that Chelsea would end the season in fourth place, staying 2 points ahead of Man United and 5 points ahead of Spurs.

Opta also predicted that Arsenal and Wolves would finish with the same amount of points, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s team staying above the Gunners in the seventh place.

In the relegation battle, Opta predicted that Watford would manage to stay up on goal difference, while Bournemouth would go down on 36 points and Brighton escape on 37.
