Talks held: Chelsea trying to reach agreement with Lille to land No.10 playmaker

According to reports in France, Chelsea have opened talks over a possible deal for Lille youngster Jonathan Ikone.

However, The 22-year-old playmaker racked up three goals and six assists in Ligue 1 this campaign before the coronavirus pandemic brought the French league season to a halt at the end of April.

Ikone’s impressive displays earned him his first call-up to the France national side in September 2019 and the attacking midfielder has since earned four caps under Didier Deschamps.

And Jonathan’s talent has not gone unnoticed across the Channel, with both Newcastle and Tottenham heavily linked with the ex-Paris Saint-Germain youth player.

According to Le 10 Sport, the Blues have joined the race for his signature and tentative discussions have begun over a potential agreement this summer.

Inter Milan, managed by former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, are providing stiff competition for Jonathan and are also in talks to sign the France international ahead of the 2020/21 term.

Lille are yet to receive a significant offer for Jonathan but are taking the interest from Chelsea and Inter Milan ‘very seriously’.
