According to the league’s official website, Timo Werner and Ross Barkley feature in Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week.
The competition’s highest ever goalscorer has praised Timo for the two skilful goals against Southampton and predicted that ‘there is more to come’ from the German.
Barkley, meanwhile, earned a special mention from Shearer: “He has been given a new lease of life at Villa. His winner was a trademark Barkley goal, with a driving run and superb strike from range.”
Loaned out by Chelsea, Barkley represents Aston Villa in this line-up, along with his new teammates Tyrone Mings and Jack Grealish.
