Timo Werner to complete Chelsea transfer if Lampard is ready to do this

Chelsea and Liverpool have both been linked with the summer signing of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

According to reports, Chelsea might have the edge over Liverpool in the race for the German goalmachine if Chelsea boss Frank Lampard makes one guarantee to the German striker.

According to Daily Express, Chelsea could hold an advantage over Liverpool in the race for Werner if Chelsea boss Lampard offers him more first team football at Stamford Bridge.

It would be unlikely that the 24-year-old would start at Liverpool over the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino and this has made a move to Chelsea more appealing as he seeks a move to the Premier League.

Chelsea have already completed the signing of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax but Lampard is keen on adding more firepower to Chelsea’s attack.

Werner’s flexibility appeals to Chelsea because he can play as the main striker or play in a slightly wider role. Meanwhile, Leipzig CEO insists he isn’t worried about Werner’s future at the German club.

“I’m deeply relaxed about Werner,” he told Sky Sports Germany.

“He hasn’t signaled yet that he wants to leave beyond this season and he doesn’t have to. He has a contract until 2023.”
