US boss finally reveals why he called up Pulisic for international duty despite injury

According to reports, US national team coach Gregg Berhalter included Christian Pulisic in his 24-man squad for USA’s upcoming friendly matches with Wales and Panama.

Pulisic has had an injury prone career since joining Chelsea, and suffered a hamstring cramp while warming up before the game against Burnley.

Pulisic has missed two of Chelsea’s recent games, with Frank Lampard revealing that he’d be out for a short while.

Meanwhile, Berhalter has explained that he only listed Pulisic as a ‘day-to-day’ member of his squad, and is unsure if he’d feature in any of those games.

“Christian is in camp and is listed as day-to-day,” Berhalter told Fox Sports.

“It says a lot about Christian that he wasn’t playing for Chelsea but wanted to come into this camp and be around the team. “His status is day-to-day.”
