VAR Official has been punish for missing clear Lo Celso red card on Azpilicueta

Chelsea beat Tottenham 2-1 at the weekend in front of the Stamford Bridge fans, but as what seems to occur every match at the moment, it did not lack VAR controversy.

The Video Assistant Referee on the day David Coote failed to see an absolutely clear red card challenge by Spurs player Giovani Lo Celso on Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilcueta.

A tackle that could easily have snapped the leg of the Spaniard.

Unbelievably, no action was taken. Luckily it did not affect the result and Chelsea still went on to win, which probably helped the FA and it’s officials on the day.

The PGMOL eventually confirmed that a human error had been made in this incident, and having looked at it again, the Premier League have suspended Coote from duty this weekend due to his error, according to Football London.

Come to think of it, this isn’t really punishment and is quite unjust considering the circumstances.
