Versatile Chelsea defender considers exit from Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are reportedly expected to loan out highly-rated English defender, Fikayo Tomori during the January transfer window.

The England international had been on the brink of making a switch to West Ham United on a temporary basis on the deadline day of the summer transfer window earlier this year, only to reject the chance of a move to the London Stadium.

Despite wishing to fight for his place in the the Blues XI, Antonio Rudiger’s return to the fold has resulted in the 22-year-old centre-back not making an appearance since September 29.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues are willing to loan out the versatile defender for the remainder of the season.

Frank Lampard included fellow fringe player Andreas Christensen on the substitutes’ bench against the Magpies, an indication that the Dane is above Tomori in the pecking order.

The 22-year-old defender, who has a deal until 2024, will not be short of interest having received offers from home and abroad throughout the summer transfer window.

In other news, Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud could also depart from the club in January after the Frenchman revealed his desire to play regular first-team football.
