“We are going to compete” – Chelsea forward confident to challenged Liverpool and Man City for PL tittle

Chelsea forward Pulisic says he sees no reason why the Blues cannot compete for both the Champions League and Premier League after they spent £200million during the current summer transfer window.

Frank Lampard steered the Blues to a fourth-placed finish in the English top-tier last campaign in what was the head-coach’s first year in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The West London club were restricted by a transfer ban when Lampard took over the reins from Maurizio Sarri, however, have made up for lost time over the last few months, finalising deals for Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Edouard Mendy Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr the latter one has made a loan move to Porto.

And while the Blues have had a mixed start to the current season, Pulisic is confident the West London club now have ‘an edge’ and a feeling of confidence that was missing last season.

‘We’ve brought in more experienced players this year with some new signings, and I think we also have a great group of young guys so I think it’s a really good mix,’ the United States forward told CBS Sports.

‘Last year was more of a transition year where obviously we couldn’t sign any new players, but we still had some of the guys who’d been there. ‘What was great about last year is a lot of the young guys got a lot of experience.

‘This year there’s definitely a boosted confidence, we’ve got an edge. We’re ready, we want to compete, and we want to win titles.’ Asked whether winning titles is a ‘realistic’ target for Chelsea this season, he replied: ‘Chelsea is a club with a lot of history that always wants to compete and win titles.

‘Our goal is to finish at the highest standing in the Premier League and win every trophy available, Champions League included. ‘We’ve got a great group of guys, we’re going to compete, and we’re hungry to win titles.’

Pulisic continued: ‘Absolutely. Why not? That’s right where we want to be. ‘I think that’s realistic, and we’re gonna compete hard to get those trophies.’
