World class centre-back compares Chelsea transfer target to Luis Suarez

Diego Godin has been among the world’s best centre-backs for a long time, and when he says something about a striker, you listen.

After a dominant period at Atletico Madrid, Godin has moved to a final stage with Inter in Serie A, home of considered defending. There he gets to train every day with one of the hottest properties in world football right now, Lautaro Martinez.

The striker has shown himself to be a top class threat this season, and is seriously in demand if the rumours are to be believed.

Godin has clearly been very impressed by him, given his quotes as carried today in the Metro:

“Lautaro is learning to use his body, to play with his back to goal. ‘He is powerful, has a strong physique. He’s already confident, but that belief is growing with every game,” the centre back said. “He has something of Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero about him,” he went on.

That’s a man who has come up against Suarez countless times in La Liga and for Barcelona, and has encountered Aguero plenty too. Those are compliments from a man who knows what he’s talking about.

If Chelsea’s scouts think the same things, then there should be no doubt we’ll go all out for him this summer.
