Zaha asked price wages just ruined his chances of joining Chelsea

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha had been linked with a January move to Chelsea.

According to a report on Daily Express, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has pulled the plug on a transfer for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha due to his extortionate wage demands.

Zaha is said to want a whopping £200,000-a-week to move to Stamford Bridge and Lampard believes paying such wages might disrupt the dressing room. Only two Chelsea players currently earn in that region and it is believed paying Zaha that much might affect ongoing contract negotiations with Tammy Abraham.

“They also had an interest in Crystal Palace’s left-sided attacking midfielder Wilfried Zaha, similar kind of player but 28,” transfer expert Ian McGarry said, according to Daily Express.

“I’m told that the wages Zaha is asking for Chelsea believe would upset their dressing room.

“He wants in excess of £200,000-a-week. Currently there are only two players on that money at Chelsea which you may find surprising. “But actually if you look at their squad it’s very young. “There’s only two players in the first-team who are on in excess of £200,000-a-week.

“Zaha is looking for substantially more than that and Frank Lampard has said he doesn’t want a player coming in on that kind of salary when they are currently in negotiations over new contracts for Tammy Abraham, with Mason Mount and Reece James.”
