Bad news for Chelsea fans as key man sustained another hamstring injury

Chelsea defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante has sustained another hamstring injury, subsequently ruling him out of the Premier League 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

On his first outing back from an ankle problem, France international star impressed against the Merseyside Reds last weekend, and the former Leicester City man was expected to feature against the Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

However, Frank Lampard decides not to rish with the health of the World Cup winner and he didn’t present in the starting lineup for the game at Stamford Bridge that ended with a 2-0 victory.

According to the club’s official Twitter account, manager Lampard has revealed that Kante suffered ‘a niggle’ during a training session on Friday and will miss the Premier League game.

However, the Frenchman could also be out for the Champions League game against Lille.

Kante also had to contend with issues in the same area during the closing weeks of last campaign, before eventually being able to participate in the final of the Europe League against Arsenal.

While no timeframe has been given for his recovery, the Blues will hope to have one of their main men available for Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Lille.

However, it is unlikely that Frank Lampard risks with the health.
