BREAKING: Chelsea handed huge boost in pursuit of international striker before deadline day

Frank Lampard is keen on signing an attacker in the January transfer window and one of the club’s transfer targets, Edinson Cavani, could be on the verge of leaving PSG before deadline day.

The Blues have been handed a boost in the pursuit of Cavani after PSG boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed Uruguay international striker has been left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s next match because of the uncertainty over his future.

PSG face Lille in a Ligue 1 clash today and Cavani has been left out of the matchday squad.

“Edi, this has been going on for a longer time now,” Tuchel said. “He is no longer injured.

“We decided that he was not available because the situation is not clear.”

Cavani is keen on leaving Paris Saint-Germain this January after falling down the pecking order at the French club.

Despite his preference to join Atletico Madrid, the Blues aren’t giving up in the pursuit of the Uruguayan striker.
