Chelsea target Jorginho has reportedly returned to Naples after completing his move to Stamford Bridge.
This one has come out of essentially nowhere. We all thought that Jorginho was set to become a Manchester City player this summer, but Chelsea have swooped in at the eleventh hour and hijacked the deal.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed on Wednesday that both Jorginho and Maurizio Sarri were on their way to Chelsea. It’s a double blow for City, who not only lost out on a transfer target, but now face losing their Premier League crown next May.
According to Calciomercato, Jorginho has now flown back to Naples after signing and sealing his move to Chelsea in Milan. The Italian is on the verge of joining Chelsea in what would be our second most expensive transfer of all-time.
We eagerly await official announcement of the deal’s completion. Beating Man City in the race for Jorginho will be a huge statement of intent from a previously dormant Chelsea.
