Double blow for Chelsea as two stars are confirmed to have injured their hamstring

Following press Chelsea conference this afternoon, Frank Lampard confirms hamstring injury for both Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

According to Football london, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has provided a negative injury update on Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Blues take on Russian side Krasnodar in their final Champions League group stage fixture at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. Having already guaranteed top spot, Lampard can afford to rest his big names.

Two players who are not in contention are Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi, both of whom have been confirmed to be struggling with hamstring injuries.

Ziyech limped off in our win over Leeds United on Saturday. Lampard confirmed that the player will have a scan later today, after which he will have a clear idea on his condition.

“He is going for a scan this afternoon, so I will have more information later.”

While Ziyech is likely to have ben rested given his importance to the team, the injury will see Hudson-odoi miss out on potential gametime.

The 20-year-old has struggled to get much game time, which could adversely affect his chances of making the England squad for Euro 2021. (h/t The Daily Mail)

Tomorrow’s match was an ideal opportunity for him to shine and stake a claim for a greater role in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, it would appear that fortune is not on his side.

Despite the smaller role he has played, Lampard is keen to keep the player on at the club this January. Chelsea are set to reject all advances made to secure the player’s signature.

The Blues are just two points off the Premier League summit heading into the busy December pileup of fixtures. Hopefully, neither player is seriously injured.
