Kante: Winning the ball is what I love to do. I’m not a superstar

N’Golo Kante is hailed as the best defensive midfielder in the world today, although we have seen his role change under Maurizio Sarri and Frank Lampard.

While Kante isn’t the traditional defensive midfielder we’ve known him for, his hard work and eagerness to win back the ball hasn’t changed no matter the role he played.

Kante is also known for other things – his humility, his smile and his shyness. The 28-year-old has also revealed that he loves to win trophies and chooses not to see himself as a superstar. However, he also revealed that he loves to help his team win back the ball.

According to NY Times, Kante said: “My favorite thing is when we lift a trophy. Afterward, we can have a picture of us lifting a trophy.

And that picture shows a lot of work, a lot of difficulty and a lot of sacrifice together. That is what it takes, to lift a trophy. From one picture, I can have many memories.”

“I am not a superstar or an ego. I am just the same as I always was: Someone who plays football. I have always been discreet in my life [but] there is no lack of confidence to be on the field, in front of many, many people.”

“[I take] satisfaction in recovering a ball, in protecting my team from an opponent’s attack. [But] the biggest satisfaction of all is to win.”
