Marina Granovskaia’s exclusive first words after Chelsea confirms Timo Werner transfer

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has revealed her delight after the Blues announced the signing of striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

However, Werner will remain at Leipzig for the rest of the Bundesliga season before officially completing his move to Stamford Bridge in July, subject to passing a medical examination.

Granovskaia explained why Chelsea supporters should be excited about the deal, and also wished RB Leipzig luck for the remainder of the campaign.

“We are very excited that Timo Werner has chosen to join Chelsea,” Granovskaia told the official club website.

“He is a player who was coveted all over Europe and it is no surprise, he has that rare mix of being young and exciting and yet established and proven.

“We can’t wait to have Timo on board, but until then we wish him and RB Leipzig all the best for the rest of this season.”

Werner has established himself as one of the most highly-rated young forwards in Europe, after scoring 32 goals and registering 13 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions.
