Whilst Chelsea have been prepared to splash the cash in the last few transfer windows, they’ve also been keen to swoop when a potential bargain is available.
If the Blues want to continue exploiting situations in the market, then there could soon be another young star available for free.
Next summer, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot could be someone who Chelsea look to sign as the French international has rejected a new contract with the Ligue 1 champions.
That means that the 23-year-old will be available on a free transfer next summer and his manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he’s not sure if the midfielder plans to stay at the club in the long term.
PSG were reportedly looking to offer Rabiot to Chelsea in a player-plus-cash deal for N’Golo Kante this summer but the Blues had no intention of letting their star midfielder go.
However, if they so choose, they could try to get Rabiot to sign a pre-contract in January ahead of a free transfer next summer.
The Blues could be looking for a midfielder next year if Mateo Kovacic’s loan deal does not become a permanent deal and Rabiot could be the perfect option to replace the Croatian.
