REVEALED: Why Timo Werner might end up at Stamford Bridge after latest transfer decision

RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner might end up signing for Chelsea as Liverpool are ready to pull off the striker deal.

However, According to top-tier transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea still might have a chance of signing RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner as the striker wants Premier League move.

It’s understood that Jurgen Klopp’s side are Werner’s priority as things stand, but they are yet to determine whether to make an offer for the Germany international.

“Liverpool two weeks ago asked time to Leipzig for Timo Werner,” Romano tweeted. “The two clubs are not in official talks yet – but LFC are still Werner’s priority. He spoke with Klopp many times and he will wait Liverpool. He’d consider other bids only if Liverpool will decide to give up.”

Chelsea’s interest in Werner has been well reported. Not only the club have been in contact with the forward’s agent, but even one of their players – namely, Antonio Rudiger – has initiated a charm offensive to lure his ex-Stuttgart teammate to Stamford Bridge.

Just last week, the 24-year-old netted a hat-trick in an away game against Mainz which took his goal tally in the Bundesliga up to 24 in 27 games while his overall tally currently stands at an astonishing 30 goals in 38 games across all competitions.

Werner has a release clause of €60 million written into his contract with Leipzig that runs until 2023. It drops to €40m next year and to just €25m in 2022. The clause might be triggered between June 1 and June 15 every summer.
