Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has warned Eden Hazard that there are no guarantees he would be a regular in the Real Madrid side if he leaves Chelsea.
Hazard has been constantly linked with a move to Madrid over the last few months as the Spaniards are reportedly keen to acquire his services, and add a goal-scoring winger to the squad after selling Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer and failing to replace the Portuguese superstar with any real quality.
And although there have been some rumours Chelsea are preparing to offer Hazard a massive £300,000-a-week contract to stay at Stamford Bridge, all indications from the player himself suggest that this will be his final season in London and he will indeed pack his bags, jump on a plane, and become a Madrid player next season.
However, Murphy has warned Hazard about joining Real and says he can become Chelsea’s best-ever player if he stays, telling Bwin: ‘Eden Hazard is the best player in the Premier League and I can see him staying at Chelsea for the long term, if he is offered the right contract.
‘I think his family are happy in London and there’s no guarantee he would get that freedom and happiness at Real Madrid.
‘I think Hazard could become Chelsea’s best player in history if he chooses to stay at the club. He has conducted himself so well throughout the speculation and the fans love him even more for it.’
How can Chelsea keep hold of Hazard in the summer?
Thee are a few things the Blues need to achieve before the summer transfer window to keep hold of Hazard, and a new contract that would make him the highest paid player in the Premier League is simply not one of them.
Hazard has admitted money is not the reason why he is interested in joining Madrid, he wants the chance to win the Ballon D’or and win a Champions League title, something Chelsea are a season away from, and considering the fact Hazard is now coming into the prime of his career, he does not want to waste these years playing for the Europa League crown.
The Blues need to convince Hazard that staying put is the best option for him, and that means building the squad around his qualities, challenging for all the trophies they can this season, while also bringing in world class players that will take the club to that next level.
That is how you can convince him to not join Madrid.
