The new season starts in one week and here’s our take on how Lampard should line-up in his first year in charge of the Blues.
Goalkeepers
Kepa is the undisputed starter for both the Premier and Champions League.
Willy Caballero will likely to feature in the FA Cup.
Jamie Cumming has been confirmed as a third-choice and is set to be given some minutes in the EFL Cup.
Defenders
David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger will continue in the heart of the Blues defence.
Tony is sidelined with an injury until late September, thus, Kurt Zouma is likely to begin the season alongside Luiz.
Andreas Christensen will be getting his chances in the cup competitions.
Azpi will star as a first-choice at the right-back with Reece James as a back-up option.
Emerson and Alonso will battle it out for the left-back.
Midfielders
N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic are all competing for two pivot places.
Kante has missed the majority of the pre-season, hence, Jorginho and the Croat are set to start in the opening fixtures.
Ross Barkley looks certain to start in the no.10 position.
Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are set to compete for a back-up role.
Forwards
Christian Pulisic and Pedro will begin the season on the wings.
Willian to compete with the Spaniard later into the season – he missed the pre-season after this summer’s Copa America.
Callum Hudson-Odoi to join the competition in late September (Achilles tendon rupture).
Giroud, Abraham and Batshuayi are all in for the no.9 position.
Lamps seems to favour Tammy over Olivier and Michy.
Therefore, here’s how Lampard could line-up in the 2019/20 season:
Option 1
Option 2
Option 3
