3 Strikers Chelsea Should Sign Revealed

Chelsea tried and failed to sign a new striker during last month’s transfer window despite the fact that they were free to sign new players on the back of the lifting of their transfer ban by CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sports) towards the end of last year. The Blues had been restricted by that transfer ban imposed on them by FIFA and many Chelsea fans expected them to spend money on new players to boost their push for a top-four place in the Premier League and a trophy at the end of this campaign.

Chelsea tried to sign attackers like Moussa Dembele, Edinson Cavani, Dries Mertens and Timo Werner last month but failed to get any of those players in so as to provide adequate support to Tammy Abraham in the striking department.

Blues boss Frank Lampard wanted a support striker for Tammy Abraham who has led the line almost all by himself this season. Chelsea legend Lampard is not a big fan of other available strikers like Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi. Lampard and Chelsea would be hoping they can meet their objectives for this season with Tammy Abraham as their only trusted striker until they can sign another striker this summer.

Here are possible striker targets for Chelsea ahead of this summer:

1. Moussa Dembele: The French international is a major target for Chelsea despite being told by Lyon that he’s not for sale. Dembele has scored 12 league goals for his French club this season.

2. Timo Werner: RB Leipzig attacker Timo Werner will leave the German club this summer as reported by various media portals in the United Kingdom and his next destination is likely to be Liverpool. Latest reports claimed that Timo Werner has agreed on personal terms with the Reds ahead of a summer transfer.

3. Dries Mertens: The Napoli attacker is a cheaper option for Chelsea in comparison to both Werner and Dembele. He’s available on a free transfer this summer.
