9:30AM: Blues announce player has signed up with Chelsea till 2027 as Chelsea told to sign £80 million star as exit seems imminent

Chelsea striker Jimmy-Jay Morgan has agreed a new contract until 2027, the Blues have confirmed today

The Blues posted on the club website: ‘Signed from Southampton in January 2023, Morgan enjoyed a productive 2023/24 season for the Blues. He netted 16 times for our Under-21s, including an impressive hat-trick in a 3-2 Premier League 2 victory over Reading in January.

‘Morgan also made four appearances in the FA Youth Cup for our Under-18s and netted in a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the fifth round.

‘Congratulations, Jimmy-Jay!’

Speaking after signing his contract, Morgan said: ‘I am extremely happy to extend my stay. Who wouldn’t be, it’s CHELSEA!

‘Ever since joining the club, I have felt comfortable in the environment, which makes you confident enough to push yourself to new limits and get the best out of you. I’m grateful and very lucky to be part of this community.’

‘Completing last season was significant for me as it was my first full season back since my surgery. Finishing as top goal scorer was a huge achievement, but I want to repeat that again this season – I forgot to mention, I am very ambitious!

‘But along with performing well, I have recently learned the importance of maintaining a positive state of mind. Holding a strong mental attitude is crucial and can take you just as far as being a talented player on the pitch.

‘I feel really fit physically and mentally I am in a steady place. My headspace is completely focused and filled with motivation.’

Chelsea told to sign £80 million star as exit seems imminent

Dwight Yorke has encouraged Chelsea to try and sign Manchester United defender Harry Maguire this summer.

Maguire has endured a mixed spell at Manchester United, making more than 200 appearances for the club but attracting criticism for his defending and losing the captaincy this time last year, which has led to reports he could be leaving

The defender will face increased competition at Old Trafford after Erik ten Hag welcomed teenage centre-back Leny Yoro to the club, while Lisandro Martinez is back fit having missed much of the 2022-23 campaign.

CHELSEA lost Thiago Silva this summer after he decided to leave the club – so they are missing that experienced defender at the back and Yorke has opened up and encouraged the Blues to make a move for Harry Maguire.

‘Harry Maguire could sit out the last year of his contract and know he’s going to play at some point due to injuries, but United really need to be ruthless and get rid of him,’ Yorke told BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League betting.

‘They have Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Leny Yoro, but Harry Maguire is in the position that he doesn’t have to go anywhere if he doesn’t want to.

‘The opportunity had passed to get rid of him because he so desperately wanted to be at Euro 2024 and he would have done anything to play. That was the time to move him so he could get regular football.

‘So that opportunity passed and he’s still there. I think we need to freshen things up at United and bring new faces in and take the future of the football club forward rather than backwards.

‘Having said that, Maguire has shown that he is very capable of playing at the highest level still and elite clubs like CHELSEA, who are trying to rebuild, might take a chance on Maguire.’
