Chelsea have identified Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell and Ajax attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech as their main transfer targets for the summer, ESPN reports.
According to the source, Frank Lampard has been given ‘green light’ to a squad re-build after the end of the season, and these two players are top of his wishlist.
In particular, he trusts in Chilwell as someone who could bring stability at left-back that’s been lacking since the departure of Ashley Cole in 2014.
Manchester City and Manchester United are also keen on the 23-year-old, though.
The Red Devils could also enter the race for Ziyech, although Chelsea are understood to be the frontrunners here. Lampard hopes that the Morocco international is the player who can add creativity to the side.
Besides, he can kick a dead ball:
The report does not mention any transfers that are likely to take place in January. This might mean that any deal that happens before this rebuild might be a quick fix.
