Former Premier League star Darren Bent has joined a list of Premier League legends who have urged Chelsea to sign in-form Wolves striker Raul Jimenez. The 38-year-old believes that Jimenez will perform for the Blues and has urged Chelsea to go for him during the summer.

“What a signing he has been [for Wolves],” the former Sunderland striker told Football Insider. “He is a very good player who has had a great season. From what I’m hearing, there will be a lot of top clubs trying to sign him in the summer.

“He could do a job at Chelsea. I can see Manchester United or Chelsea coming in for him. Jimenez knows the Premier League, so that is the advantage so he would be a great signing for either.”

During the winter transfer market, Manchester United legend Paul Ince as well as former Liverpool and Tottenham striker Peter Crouch and former Chelsea star Joe Cole also believed Chelsea should move for the striker.

Cole told BT Sport: “Wolves fans won’t thank me for saying it but if I’m Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United and you’ve got a chequebook ready to go, he’s the first name.

“If you want someone to make an instant impact on your team, you want someone to tick boxes, who knows the league, knows the flow of English football.

“It’s all well and good being part of a project but when Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham come for you, it may turn your head. “For me, he could quite easily play for any one of those teams because he’s got so much ability. He’s one of my favourite players to watch.”
