Chelsea wanted to add to their attacking options during the January transfer window, as they looked to take the pressure off leading goalscorer Tammy Abraham during the second half of the season.

The Blues were linked to many names including Moussa Dembele, Edinson Cavani and Dries Mertens, but in the end they failed to get any deal over the line.

It means that Frank Lampard goes into the end of season run-in with Abraham, Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud as his three striking options as Chelsea aim to hold onto fourth spot in the Premier League. One other name who was linked with a January move to Stamford Bridge was RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, with speculation that the forward was available for around £60 million.

Chelsea fans had the chance to see Werner in action on Sunday evening as his RB Leipzig side took on Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. However, The game ended in a 0-0 draw, leaving Bayern just one point above their opponents at the top of the league. Werner has scored 25 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

However, Blues’ fans watching the game were left unimpressed by Werner’s performance, with one incident in particular catching fans’ attention.
