UEFA have banned Manchester City from competing in the Champions League for the next two seasons. The ban will come into effect from the next season.
The Premier League giants are blamed for the multiple FFP violations and ‘overstating its sponsorship revenue’.
They are now set to serve a two-year ban from the Champions League and will also pay 30 million fine.
Man City’s official website has already released a statement which reads:
“Manchester City is disappointed but not surprised by today’s announcement by the UEFA Adjudicatory Chamber.
The Club has always anticipated the ultimate need to seek out an independent body and process to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence in support of its position.”
The final decision is nevertheless subject to appeal to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS). Judging by our own previous experience, we can assume that this is already a lost cause for Pep Guardiola’s team.
